Haunted Castles & Spooky Places
Haunted Castles & Spooky Places is a foundational body of work developed through the depiction of Irish landmarks associated with ghost stories, folklore, and local legend. Created between 2022 and 2023, the series presents castles, ruins, and historic sites as narrative settings rather than architectural subjects.
Rendered in vibrant ink, each work is paired with a rhyming verse recounting the associated legend, combining image and text to preserve and reinterpret inherited ghost stories. The series treats these sites as containers of memory, where history, imagination, and superstition coexist.

Completed shortly before the beginning of formal study in forensic science, this body of work marked a shift toward darker narrative themes and an interest in how stories persist around place, death, and unresolved events. The project culminated in a published book and exhibition launched at Halloween 2023 and marked the birth of the character, Morbid Murgatroyd.

Haunted Castles & Spooky Places functions as a precursor to later series, establishing narrative, folklore, and atmosphere as central elements that would later evolve into more psychologically and materially focused work.
