What Persists

What Persists is an ongoing body of work, started in 2025, examining what remains after use, damage, abandonment, or death. Drawing on observation, folklore, and natural systems, the series considers persistence not as endurance, but as residue, what is carried forward materially and symbolically.

Animals, human made objects, and other organic matter appear as witnesses rather than subjects. They are not idealised, but observed in states of tension, decay, or quiet continuity. The works resist sentimentality, instead holding space for ambiguity and the slow accumulation of meaning.

Informed by research and forensic modes of looking, What Persists approaches nature as a record rather than a refuge. Time, impact, and transformation are embedded within each image, allowing the series to grow through accretion rather than resolution.
