Inspired Journey
Inspired Journey is a body of work developed and completed in response to experiences of coercion, manipulation, and emotional harm, and the gradual process of reclaiming autonomy. Rather than illustrating personal narrative directly, the series uses symbolic and biological imagery to examine power, distortion, and recovery.

Animals, specifically birds, appear as archetypes rather than portraits, standing in for behaviours such as dominance, parasitism, bravado, and control. Works such as The Braggart, Toxic Love, Parasite, and Gaslighting approach these dynamics obliquely, allowing meaning to emerge through metaphor rather than confession.

The series resists sentimentality and resolution. Healing is not presented as linear or redemptive, but as a process of recognition and separation. By externalising harmful patterns into visual form, the works create distance, enabling observation rather than re-enactment and have served their purpose as a source of healing in themselves.

Inspired Journeys was exhibited in a joint show with two other artists (Mavis Gormally and Katherina Cuschieri) in 2024, each portraying artwork from their own personal journeys. Collectively and individually the work represents a time-bound exploration of survival, clarity, and regained independence.
